This installation note covers card ready Maytag machines. There are several variants in the reader's bracket and mounting plate, depending on the machine. This note covers them all. Some installation photos might show the white metal enclosure, while your readers likely use the newer black plastic enclosure.

2. Cable harness. NOTE the reader-side and the machine-side ends of the cable. They look similar Do not mix them up.

1. Turn machine power OFF!
2. Before proceeding, you should assign numbers to each of the machines in the laundry room/building. It is highly recommended that you place number labels on each washer and dryer machine.
3. Set the machine type and number using the DIP switch on the reader's circuit board:
   See DIP switch settings page to understand how to configure DIP switch positions to set the machine type (washer or dryer) and number.
   

These readers are for single washers and dryers with controls on the front, such as Washers MHN33PR and MDG28PR. It consists of the bracket and the main enclosure

1. Unscrew 4 “secure” screws on front panel
   
2. Take out first panel and install reader by using provided brackets as shown on picture below \\
   The picture shows a panel from a “coin ready” machine. For “card ready” machine, the part in the red rectangle is open.
   
3. Fit the cable through the card slot and connect the “machine-side” connector to the 6-pin header on the machine control board. Attach the “reader-side” connector to the 6-pin connector on the reader.
   
4. Put back the panel and secure it with panel’s screws. The back view of the front panel should look similar to the picture below
   
   
5. Once the reader is secured, power up the machine and apply the Activation card.

This reader is for the dryers with controls on the console at the back, such as MDE20PR.

1. Open the machine console,
2. Connect cable harness to reader, feed through the slot, and connect to machine
3. Secure reader by feeding threaded posts through the card slot, and secure the reader from the inside using washers and nuts:
   
   
4. Once the reader is secured, power up the machine and apply the Activation card.

Connect the cable harness between the card reader and the AA3 connector on the machine's control board:
