Dexter C-Series Washers and Dryers

This note covers reader installations on Dexter C-series washers and dryers (single and stack).

Parts

  • Reader with mounting plate for coin box
  • Cable harness
  • Power supply (for older Cseries Dryers only).

Installation

  1. Before proceeding, you should assign numbers to each of the machines in the laundry room/building. It is highly recommended that you place number labels on each washer and dryer machine.

  2. Set the machine type and number using the DIP switch on the back of the reade
See DIP switch settings page to understand how to configure DIP switch positions to set the machine type (washer or dryer) and number. For stack dryers, the number defined by the DIP switch corresponds to the lower dryer. The upper dryer will assume lower+1. Therefore, whenever numbering readers for stacks, you need to number each reader in steps of 2.

  3. Turn machine power OFF!

  4. Open the service compartment or lid

  5. Remove the coin box to expose the vault

  6. Connect the reader-side of the cable harness to the reader

  7. Washers:
Connect the 4-wire signal connector to header labeled “Serial Com” on the machine's control board.

Splice the two power wires from the harness to the two red wires coming off of the 4-pin connector on P7 (these wires have 24VAC for power)

  8. Dryers:
Connect the 4-wire signal connector to header labeled “Serial Com” on the machine's control board (the header label could be P10 or something different in newer models)

For the power, newer generation of CSeries dryers provide 24VAC using two convenient spade connectors (show below). Simply mate these to the spade connectors from the reader's harness
In older generation Cseries dryers an external power supply must be used. Connect the DC jack of the power supply to the DC jack on the reader harness, and splice the AC-side to the machine (or connect the AC prong if there's an outlet near the machine)
  9. Secure the reader to the coin box

Pricing

Pricing is set entirely on the machine. The machine communicates to the reader information about cycle prices.

NOTE!!

If you make price changes on the machine control (directly or using Dexter Live), you need to reboot the reader to sync-up the prices!
