This installation note covers Card-ready models (sometimes called “Card Prep”) manufactured by Alliance, which can include the following brands: Speed-Queen, Huebsch, IPSO. Card-ready models have either a slot a card slot (small chassis variety) or a hole (larger machines). Examples of target machines:

The reader connectivity only differs depending on whether the electronic control board inside of these machine is ACA-type or MDC/Quantum-type. If the machine's control board is housed inside of a black plastic box similar to the one shown below, then the control is ACA-type. Otherwise, the control is MDC/Quantum-type.
 

1. Turn machine power OFF!
   
   
2. Before proceeding, you should assign numbers to each of the machines in the laundry room/building. It is recommended that you place number labels on each washer and dryer machine.
   
   
3. Set the machine type and number using the DIP switch on the back of the card reader:

1. Set the machine for Card-Mode.
   For MDC/Quantum-type, this is done by connecting the supplied jumper as shown below (remove existing jumper if present)
   
   For ACA-type, this is done through the machine control board's DIP switch: set switch #3 to the ON position, as shown below:
   
   
   
2. Connect the signal connector and power connector to the machine
   
   
3. Run the other side of the cable through the machine panel as shown below
   
   
   
4. Secure the card reader to the machine through the card slot using the provided nuts and washers.
5. Power on the machine and apply the Activation card.
